Why the Community Relief Fund marks an important step forward for our profession
Housing security sits at the heart of what we do. That’s why the Community Relief Fund represents an important step forward for our profession.
Overseen by a committee of GVR members, the Community Relief Fund creates a structured, sustainable way for us to directly support those facing housing insecurity in our region and beyond. Whether responding to natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances, the fund allows us to act quickly and collectively.
I share more in the short video below about how the fund came together, what it’s designed to do, and why it reflects the best of our REALTOR® community. I encourage you to watch and come support this new program at our Medallion Club Awards Giving Gala next week.
Get your office groups together for next week’s Medallion gala!
Our 2025 Medallion Club Awards Giving Gala is coming up this Thursday, March 5.
We’ve re-imagined this year’s gala as a charitable cocktail-style celebration to support the launch of the GVR Community Relief Fund. Each $190 ticket includes GST and a $60 donation to the Charitable Relief Fund. Come enjoy the celebration with:
- Food and bars spread throughout the entire banquet floor and rooms – stations and passed canapes
- Themed recognition spaces for milestone qualifiers
- Entertainment throughout all rooms/space
- Main stage formal presentations and awards streamed to all rooms
- Lounge and cocktail furniture in all rooms/spaces
- One drink ticket for all attendees
- Gala programs
- Live donation campaigns and live auction
Medallion Club qualifiers aren’t just top performers, they're community ambassadors leading GVR's new fundraising approach.
Invite your colleagues and the members in your office to join in the celebration and stand with you in supporting the cause!
Make your mark: Sign up for GVR’s new website focus group
Your association is working on a total revamp of our websites, and we want your input.
We are looking for volunteers to commit to monthly, one-hour focus groups conducted virtually over the next four to six months to help guide the development of our websites.
These focus groups will start in April. Each month, volunteers will be asked their opinion on a new function, section, or other concept for the new site. The volunteers will then meet online with the GVR team as part of a virtual focus group to give their feedback.
These virtual focus groups will give you an opportunity to shape how these sites will function, making them more useful to you and your business.
Want to join? Please share this sign-up form link with anyone in your office that might be interested and our team will follow up with you.

Competition Bureau expands investigation to include GVR
By now, you've probably heard about the federal Competition Bureau's recently obtained production order from the Federal Court requiring GVR to produce certain records, data, and written responses as part of an ongoing investigation under the federal Competition Act.
This development is an extension of the investigation that the Bureau commenced in 2024 into the Canadian Real Estate Association’s (CREA) rules and policies related to cooperating member broker compensation and the REALTOR® Cooperation Policy.
It is important to note that neither the Bureau nor any court has determined that GVR or CREA has violated the Competition Act. GVR takes its competition law obligations seriously and is fully cooperating with the Bureau. We have engaged experienced competition counsel and will respond to the Order in a timely and diligent manner.
Read our full statement here. We will continue to update members as this matter evolves.
