Blanket Drive 2023 is coming! Help connect warm clothing with those in need this November

Many of us have gently used clothing sitting in the back of our closets, wardrobes, and drawers. Don’t leave them in the dark – help connect your warm clothing with people who need it the most by participating in the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive.

This year, we’re looking to bring warmth to struggling Metro Vancouverites by donating gently used or new clothing.

If you or your clients have a lonely item that fits the bill, bring it to a participating real estate office from November 14–21 and our matchmakers will pair them with the perfect partner.

If you don’t have clothing to donate, you can support the campaign financially through the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive online fundraiser.

Learn more and start spreading the word amongst the members in your office. We'll share more details about the REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive in the coming weeks.

Medallion Club: New policies, no more teams forms

Our updated Medallion Club policies are now available. Earlier this year, we announced Medallion policy changes that bring the program into alignment with new BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) teams definitions announced in April 2023.

You can read our updated policies here.

With these changes, real estate teams no longer need to complete a Medallion Club teams form or submit forms to disband or change the composition of their team. There are also no longer team leaders. All Medallion Club teams will simply have a team name and team members.

We’re updating our systems to ensure we’re capturing Medallion Club teams information and we anticipate this work to be complete by late fall.

If you’re forming a real estate team, or making changes to your existing team, make sure it’s first registered with BCFSA. Then, let us know by emailing sales@rebgv.org.

BCREA surveying REALTORS® on the Home Buyer Rescission Period's impact

The BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) is asking REALTORS® to provide feedback on the effectiveness of the Home Buyer Rescission Period (HBRP) by filling out a new survey.

Now that the HBRP has been in place for nine months, BCREA wants to collect on-the-ground data about any challenges or issues that Realtors and their clients face as a result of this policy change. BCREA will use this data to better advocate on behalf of BC Realtors.

The provincial government introduced the HBRP, colloquially known as the "cooling-off period,” in an attempt to help ensure homebuyers had enough time to conduct their due diligence. Under this policy, homebuyers are granted up to three business days to reconsider and potentially rescind an offer on a residential property after it has been officially accepted.

The deadline for completing the survey is the end of the day this Monday, October 2.
