CEO Message: A year of progress builds momentum for the future

As we come to the close of 2025, I want to reflect on a year of steady progress and key accomplishments. I recognize that many of you continue to operate in a challenging market that has now persisted for several years.

Throughout this period, your association has remained focused on supporting your immediate business needs while advancing the long-term priorities you have identified as most important: higher professional standards, modern and responsive services, innovative tools, and strong partnerships.

We are excited about what’s to come in 2026, including new partnerships that are under negotiation, the rollout of a new member portal, expanded economic reports and services, broader and more detailed data sets within the MLS®, and increased information sharing across the province. I encourage you to stay engaged, as the year ahead promises to be another fast-paced period of progress.

On behalf of everyone at GVR, I wish you and your families a warm and restful holiday season. And we look ahead to 2026 with optimism and a continued focus on delivering value to you day in and out.

New GVR–BCFSA data-sharing agreement gives member brokerage exemptions from the regulator’s 2026 data call

GVR has finalized a landmark data-sharing agreement with the BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) that provides an exemption for all GVR member brokerages and managing brokers from the regulator’s 2026 residential Data Call for transactions in the GVR board area.

This agreement is designed to improve efficiency, enhance collaboration with the regulator, and reduce the compliance workload placed on our Brokers in recent years.

Under the new arrangement, BCFSA will receive real-time access to GVR residential transaction data, greatly reducing the need for manual reporting. In return, GVR will gain real-time access to BCFSA licensing data, helping streamline our support for members.

We see this partnership as a new model for how the profession and its regulator can work together in Canada—focused on collaboration, efficiency, and strengthening consumer protection. The agreement focuses on achieving a smarter, more efficient workflow that strengthens regulatory oversight in our industry while giving brokerages back valuable time spent today on compliance.

While the exemption removes the obligation to submit residential transaction data within GVR’s area, brokerages will still need to report:

  • Transactions that occur outside GVR’s jurisdiction; and
  • Information related to the Home Buyer Rescission Period (HBRP).

BCFSA is treating this as a pilot program and may explore expanding it across the province if it proves beneficial.

The Critical Path – Driving change through innovation and professionalism with GVR's Craig Munn

Change is the only constant in real estate, and at Greater Vancouver REALTORS® (GVR), it’s at the heart of everything we do. From transforming how we serve members to leading new conversations on professionalism and housing, GVR is reimagining what a modern professional association can be.

In this episode of The Critical Path, host Jesse Lalime sits down with GVR’s Chief Corporate Development Officer, Craig Munn, to talk about how innovation and professionalism are shaping the association’s future.

Munn shares how GVR’s Service Re-imagined initiative is already improving the member experience, while major efforts continue behind the scenes to expand and elevate that work. He also explains what “corporate development” means in the GVR context and why partnerships are key to achieving GVR’s long-term goals.

Medallion 2025 reminder: Check your status, team fixes, and more

With the year wrapping up, now’s the time to review your Medallion profile and make sure all your sales are recorded.

Please take a moment to check your sales listed on the My Medallion section of our member website. If you believe any are missing, contact us at mlssales@gvrealtors.ca.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be updating team memberships to ensure your Medallion participation matches your BCFSA team status. We expect to have this completed by December 18 and will send reminders to check your team status once updates are done.

Our development team has also rolled out an update to fix the issue where team members didn’t earn an additional Medallion year when achieving Medallion status just in time for Medallion 2025. No matter how you qualify for Medallion status this year, your Medallion year total will now be updated correctly.

Happy holidays from GVR!

Wishing you a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season, and all the best for the same in 2026!
