Setting the standard: New services, bold partnerships, stronger professionalism
This year’s market conditions have been challenging. My conversations within our membership highlight the fact that transactions are harder to come by - clients are cautious, and competition is fierce.
In times like these, your association’s role is clear: to stand with you, deliver value that supports your success, and take strategic actions that strengthen your profession and business for the long term.
If you have not already seen my Fall message to members, I encourage you to review it with the REALTORS® in your office. We have accomplished much on your behalf throughout 2025, and there is more to come.
Breakfast is on us September 10 and 15
Our free Broker Breakfast and Roundtable meetings are in full swing. Thanks to those of you who came out to our first two sessions in Richmond and Vancouver.
Two sessions remain and there are plenty of spots left at both:
- Wednesday, September 10 at the Riverway Golf Clubhouse in Burnaby
- Monday, September 15 at the Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier in North Vancouver
Enjoy a free breakfast on us while taking in a presentation from GVR’s executive leadership. After the presentation, Account Executive Brian Spencer and Senior Member Advocacy Officer Jennie deFoy will lead roundtable discussions.
Don’t miss out - register for one of these remaining sessions today!

Strengthening professionalism through PDP changes coming in 2026
Beginning January 1, 2026, all BC REALTORS® will be required to complete 21 Professional Development Program (PDP) hours when renewing their membership – an increase from the current 18 hours.
This change comes directly from member feedback. Through surveys, listening tours, and focus groups, you told us you wanted stronger educational standards to support REALTOR® professionalism.
Because these additional hours can be self-directed, this change gives you an opportunity to incentivize your salespeople to take your in-house training.
To make compliance as simple as possible, we’re expanding access to free and self-paced learning options, including through UBC and the GVR Learning Hub, and we plan on expanding our course offerings.
We’ll also be rolling out reminders, tools, and resources to help you track your hours and plan ahead for your 2026 renewal.
Two GVR members honoured as BC Good Citizens
On behalf of GVR, I offer my warmest congratulations to our members Troy MacBeth Abromaitis (Lex7em’ken Drynock) and Crystal Hung, who were two of 18 recipients of the BC Medal of Good Citizenship. They received their medals from Premier David Eby at a ceremony on Canada Day.
Troy led culturally rooted housing and recovery projects following the wildfires that devastated his home community of Lytton in 2021. Learn more here.
Crystal was honoured for pioneering micro-philanthropy and destigmatizing mental illness through her Pixel Moments initiative. Learn more here.
Congratulations Troy and Crystal!
