A proposal to tackle Canada’s down payment problem

At Greater Vancouver REALTORS® (GVR), we believe in taking a leadership role in advocating for policies that make home ownership more attainable for Canadians.

To add substance to this pursuit, the Vancouver Sun published an op-ed that I wrote today outlining a new proposal to create a national program called the Canadian Home Ownership Community Bond.

Read the op-ed here.

I encourage you to read the op-ed and help spread the word! Share it across your social media channels to increase awareness and discussion around housing affordability and attainability.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Attend GVR's Annual General Meeting on March 27: One Special resolution up for vote

Greater Vancouver REALTORS® will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) next week on Thursday, March 27, at the Delta Hotel Burnaby, 4331 Dominion Street in Burnaby. This is a hybrid event, meaning you can attend in person or virtually.

The AGM is a valuable opportunity for all members to gain insights into the latest trends and challenges affecting the real estate industry as well as the key strategic priorities that GVR is pursuing on your behalf.

Additionally, the AGM provides you with a voice in shaping your association’s future by voting on special resolutions that have been brought forward for your approval.

At this year’s meeting, members will be asked to approve one special resolution. Click here for the full background on this year's resolution.

Whether you’re attending in person or virtually, you need to register to attend. Register here.

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Pending and closed statuses coming to REALTOR.ca April 10

Starting April 10, GVR will introduce "pending" and "closed" statuses to REALTOR.ca, increasing transparency and data accuracy.

Sold prices will now be displayed 30 days after closing, reducing the previous one-year non-display rule.

This move enhances the consumer experience, supports informed decision-making, and strengthens REALTORS®' ability to attract and engage potential clients.

BCFSA Data Call report now available in Paragon

To help you collect data to complete the Real Estate Transaction Data Workbook for the BC Financial Services Authority’s (BCFSA's) 2025 Real Estate Brokerage Data Call, your association has put together a report in Paragon. You can find the report under the Inventory specialty search.

Get full details, instructions, and further guidance from BCFSA here.

If you have questions about the report or need help with it, contact our Help Desk at 604-730-3020 or email support@gvrealtors.ca.

Volunteer with our professional conduct or arbitration committees

Do you value ethics and professionalism? Do you take an interest in the REALTOR® Code and the Rules of Cooperation?

If you answered yes, please consider volunteering for our Arbitration Committee or Professional Conduct Committee. Both committees are seeking members who are licensed as managing brokers.

The current committee terms end in April, and new volunteers are needed for May. This could be your opportunity to put your years of experience to use while helping promote and strengthen our profession.

The Arbitration Committee oversees and, when necessary, adjudicates all arbitration disputes between corporate members.

The Professional Conduct Committee upholds and enforces the Board’s bylaws, regulations, Realtor Code, and Rules of Cooperation.

If you’d like to be considered for either of these committees, or for other volunteer opportunities, please visit our volunteer website and sign up.

Discuss the latest disciplinary decisions in your office

Stay on top of the work GVR does to uphold and enforce professional standards within the profession and resolve disputes between members.

Our Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) investigates alleged member breaches of the Realtor Code and our Rules of Cooperation. Review the PCC’s latest ruling (C24-13 Consent to Discipline).

The BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) regularly posts their disciplinary decisions. Review them with the members in your office.
