GVR’s broker discount on annual BCREA and CREA dues to end in 2025
Earlier this year, the Greater Vancouver REALTORS® (GVR) embarked on an ambitious initiative to modernize and digitally transform our member services. At the heart of this transformation is a sustained focus on our brokerage community.
In 2025, we will introduce a new brokerage service model designed to provide a more focused, personalized, and comprehensive customer service experience for business operators like you.
This new model will help brokerages thrive by ensuring you get the most out of our products, services, and resources.
Discount on BCREA and CREA dues
As part of these modernization efforts, we are also re-evaluating our accounting practices and funding structures. Through this work, we’ve identified a historical inefficiency that requires attention: the annual discount we offer brokerages on Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and BC Real Estate Association (BCREA) dues.
Background
We provide a 5 per cent discount on GVR fees and dues to our broker-bill offices that collect and remit funds from the REALTORS® in their office. The money that brokers collect include the annual dues for BCREA ($204 per member a year) and CREA ($310 per member a year), which we pass directly on to those associations.
By applying this discount, some members are effectively subsidizing the cost of other members’ BCREA and CREA dues. This is far from an efficient or optimal accounting practice. In fact, we may be the only real estate board in North America to facilitate such a subsidy.
What this means for you moving forward
After careful consideration, we have decided to discontinue this discount.
As of January 1, 2025, GVR will no longer offer a broker discount on the portion of dues allocated to BCREA and CREA. This change will help ensure a more efficient and fair use of our financial resources.
Please note, however, we will continue to offer a broker discount on GVR dues and fees.
You will see these updates reflected on your brokerage’s billing statements for January 2025.
Looking ahead
You can expect to see new billing discounts and incentives designed for our broker community. These new offerings will be part of our broader efforts to enhance your service experience and provide you with more value. Watch for news about these changes in 2025.
As we move forward with these changes, we appreciate your understanding and support. We are committed to providing you with the tools and resources you need to succeed, and we look forward to sharing more service enhancements throughout the upcoming year.
