Broker Update, July 7, 2023
Reminder: Password change required this Tuesday, July 11
This coming Tuesday, July 11, every REBGV member will be required to update their password for our websites like Paragon and REBGV.ca. We’ve been communicating about this change for several weeks.
We’re updating our password requirements to align with modern cybersecurity best practices, and in response to incidents where hackers breached lockboxes and were able to steal property and keys.
Your new password must meet the latest security standards, such as:
- Being at least 12-20 characters long.
- Containing at least six letters, one number, and one special character.
- Not containing four consecutive characters from a previous password.
There’s no need to change your password before July 11, and if you do, you’ll need to change it again when you log in that day. Learn more here.

New rule and disclosure form for multiple offer situations coming July 17
We recently announced that we, along with Fraser Valley Real Estate Board and the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board, will implement a new multiple offer disclosure form on July 17 that seller’s agents will be required to complete and communicate to buyer’s agents who participated in a multiple offer situation.
The new Disclosure of Multiple Offers Presented (DMOP) form lists all the competing offers received and the name of the submitting brokerage. The listing Realtor and the seller will be required to sign this form. The listing Realtor will then need to provide it to the buyer’s agents as well as to any unrepresented buyers who submitted offers, no later than one calendar day after the seller has decided on all the presented offers.

The Ethics Guy® Kim Spencer will retire in 2024
Speaking of Kim, he’s decided to retire in May of next year after an extremely diverse and successful career in the real estate profession. He’ll continue in his role full-time until then.
Kim was originally licensed to sell real estate in August 1980. From that time on, he gravitated toward leadership and mentorship positions starting with Block Bros. Realty.
After a few years in sales at Top Producer Systems, Kim spent three years at BCREA as Director of Member Services before being hired to manage REBGV’s new Professional Standards Department in 2006.

If you or any of the members in your office recently celebrated a high school graduate, apply for one of REBGV’s annual entrance scholarships for your grad today!
Each year we award five $1,500 entrance scholarships to our members’ children entering post-secondary education.
We award scholarships based on performance in academics, athletics, fine arts, and community service. The recipients are chosen by a team of independent adjudicators.
Applications for our 2023 scholarships are due by August 25. Adjudication will take place in September, and successful applicants will be notified in October.
